The Little Italy of Los Angeles Association is proud to announce the official inauguration of Piazza Miramare, the first Italian Piazza in the State of California. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at 629 South Harbor Boulevard, San Pedro, CA 90731.
This long-awaited moment represents years of vision, collaboration, and dedication to preserving and celebrating Italian heritage in Southern California. Piazza Miramare will serve as a vibrant cultural and community gathering space, honoring the traditions, history, and enduring contributions of Italian Americans.
The event will be attended by distinguished guests, including Councilmember Tim McOsker of Council District 15, Former Councilmember Joe Buscaino, County Supervisor Janice Hahn, Little Italy of Los Angeles President Mario Amalfitano, Raffaella Valentini, Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, and Onorevole Christian Di Sanzo, PhD, Deputy of the Italian Republic, highlighting the international and cultural significance of this historic achievement.
The Little Italy of Los Angeles Association also extends its sincere gratitude to Council District 15 for its continued support and partnership in bringing this landmark project to life.
“This piazza is more than a public space: it is a symbol of unity, pride, and cultural legacy,” said Mario Amalfitano, President of the Little Italy of Los Angeles Association. “For the largest Italian American community in Southern California, Piazza Miramare represents a place where generations can come together to celebrate their roots and share their traditions with the wider community.”
The inauguration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a small community celebration. Please note that the dedicated commemorative tiles will be installed at a later date, following the official opening.
Community members, local leaders, and the public are invited to attend and take part in this historic moment as Los Angeles welcomes a new cultural landmark.
