Italy had a strong presence at CES2026 in Las Vegas. In the Main Hall of CES, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) presented a self-driving Fiat 500e being designed by students on the AIDA – Artificial Intelligence Driving Autonomous team at the University of Milan, Politecnico di Milano.
The project is leading Europe in the design of autonomous driving vehicles in Europe and showcases Italian engineering to meet future human needs. One need the car will fill is to provide service in areas which do not need buses for those needing transportation by providing an autonomous shuttle service.
The self-driving car is capable of charging autonomously. The testing area covers a large part of Brescia, including the historic center and neighboring districts. Brescia is a city in the northern Italian region of Lombardy.
The Main Hall booth provided a contact point for Italian executives to meet with potential contacts for expanding into the US and other markets. In addition, the ITA brought over 50 Italian Startups to CES, which were exhibited at the Venetian Hotel.
