Lieutenant Colonel Salvatore Carpitano, a devoted father, husband, and military aviator, was killed Tuesday in a traffic collision while driving home from work near Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
Carpitano is survived by his wife, Emilia, and their daughter, Sofia, 7. Family and friends say his wife and child were the center of his world, and that his greatest pride was his role as a husband and father.
