San Francisco: first assessment of the Comites “Virtual Assistance Desk”

Launched in mid-September 2025, the Virtual Assistance Desk for Citizens run by the Comites of San Francisco has already handled more than 100 cases. The update comes directly from the Comites, which at the start of the new year released the first data on the service’s activity.

According to the committee, the desk has provided “concrete support” through multiple channels. Since its activation, the service has included 24 Zoom appointments, 7 phone calls, and 66 emails and messages sent to Italian nationals who contacted the Comites. In all cases, responses were provided within three business days.

The most frequent requests, the Comites reports, have concerned passport renewal procedures, the Electronic Identity Card (CIE), and the rules and requirements for obtaining Italian citizenship.

“These figures confirm that the Virtual Desk is not only active, but effective, and designed to be a practical tool for guidance and support for our community,” the Comites stated, encouraging Italian residents in the district to make use of the virtual service whenever needed.
