A new national award has been launched in Italy to recognize those who actively protect and enhance the country’s historic rural landscapes, highlighting the deep connection between agriculture, culture, and territory.
Starting in 2026, the “Historic Rural Landscapes Award” aims to promote awareness of traditional farming practices that have shaped Italy’s environment over centuries. These practices – from terraced vineyards and olive groves to mountain pastures and forest management – are considered essential in defining the visual identity of the country and supporting local economies.
