You haven't truly had fettuccine Alfredo until you've had it served from a wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Ruota di Parmigiano — Italian for "wheel of Parmesan" — is the specialty of Divieto Ristorante in Coconut Point in Estero. Order it and a friendly server will appear tableside with a large wheel of the salty cheese and freshly prepared fettuccine noodles in butter. After scraping a generous mound of the cheese from the inside of the wheel in the middle, it's married with the pasta and lightly tossed around the wheel, creating a truly unique Alfredo sauce.
If you go to Divieto for one thing, make it that because it's an experience every Italian food aficionado should have. Even diners who aren't fans of Alfredo sauce — like me — will find the rich and creamy dish impossible to not love. We enjoyed our favorite pasta dish surrounded by grilled shrimp ($26.50), and the compliment between the rich Alfredo sauce and the buttery shrimp was perfect.
