L'arancino, il gustoso street food siciliano, prende per la gola anche i newyorchesi. Lo chef Philip Guardione, di origini catanesi, annuncia di aver portato in America il cosiddetto "Arancino Day", la giornata in cui in Sicilia, ogni 13 dicembre, c'è l'usanza di rinunciare a pane, pasta e farinacei in generale per devozione. Al loro posto, arancini a go go, gustoso simbolo della cultura gastronomica siciliana dove si mangiano tutto l'anno.
"La giornata dedicata agli arancini - dice Guardione - è una vera festa sia per gli americani che, pur non conoscendo questa tradizione, apprezzano comunque moltissimo in tutti i periodi dell'anno queste specialità, sia per gli italiani e gli italo-americani che, anche lontani dalla loro terra di nascita, hanno la possibilità di ritrovarne i gusti autentici e di mantenere fede a un'usanza ben radicata.
