Alfred "Freddie" J. Sacco, 87, of Worcester, passed away at home surrounded by his family Monday, June 8. He was born in Worcester, one of three sons of Italian immigrants, Joseph and Pasqua (Martocci) Sacco. He grew up in an Italian neighborhood off Shrewsbury Street and graduated from Commerce High.
He joined the United States Army during World War II to serve his country. Upon his discharge from the service he received the Victory Medal. He then returned to the city and began a career as a chef for various restaurants in the Worcester area. In 1954, he married his wife of 61 years, Mary P. "Pat" Nugent. They settled in Worcester where they raised their family.
