on Thursday, February 29, for a melodious evening of songs and classic movie clips highlighting Harry Warren's illustrious career presented by music educator and performer, Robert Lamont, accompanied by cabaret/jazz singer Vanessa Racci.Warren, Italian-American born , had an impressive career that began with Tin Pan Alley and spanned through his hit Broadway musicals and movies. The most important Italian American composer of popular songs of the 20th century, the Brooklyn native won three Academy Awards for Best Song, had more than 55 songs that charted in the Top 10 on “Your Hit Parade” with 16 hitting number one, and his compositions form a core of the American Songbook.
Come celebrate this Italian American composer’s heritage with songs in Italian and lead the audience in a finale singalong to the Oscar-nominated hit, “That’s Amore.” The reception begins at 6:00pm, followed by the program at 6:30pm.
