In "Italian American Reconciliation," a comedy production at Lake Forest High School that starts Jan. 26, timing is important. "In a drama, its more about getting the characterization and the mood correct," said Gracie Stockton, a senior who plays Aunt May. "In a comedy, so much is about timing and beats and chemistry. You have to make sure the delivery and the little intricacies line up and the right pace."
The play is a comedy written by John Patrick Shanley. The playwright is also known for "Doubt" and "Moonstruck," both of which were made into award-winning films. In the play, a man named Huey wants to win back his ex-wife Janice. His friend Aldo thinks that's a bad idea because Huey has a great current girlfriend. Also, Aldo might be attracted to Janice. Nevertheless, Aldo speaks to Janice on behalf of Huey. And on it goes.
