On Sunday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m., Norristown's Verdi Band will celebrate its 95th Anniversary at the Elmwood Park Bandshell. A fixture at local church feasts, the band will play both Italian and American songs.
In a time when Catholic Church and school closings and merging are commonplace, the Verdi Band has adapted while honoring the spirit in which the band was founded. Recently they acquired their 401(c) 3 non-profit status and installed a board of directors.
