The Norwalk Sons of Italy Pietro Micca Lodge No. 744 has found two new homes in advance of selling its property at 162 New Canaan Ave.
Going forward, the Italian-American organization will hold its regular meetings and Ladies' Night events at the Norwalk Pastime and Athletic Social Club, 59 Seaview Ave., in Norwalk, and its Men's Night events, dancing and other large-attendance social functions at the Ukrainian American Club of Southport, 279 Kings Drive.
"We wanted to keep the club in Norwalk, so that's why we went over to the Pastime. But the Pastime is not big enough for some events," said Fred A. Bondi, city councilman and chairman of the Norwalk Sons of Italy's Building Association. "We can have our meetings and our Ladies' Night there. Otherwise, we get about 200 people for our Men's Night and about 125 to 150 for dancing (and) the Ukrainian hall is big."
