The Borough and the Roma Club came together for the annual Italian flag-raising ceremony and activities at Dowling Gardens on Oct. 18. The ceremony coincides each year with the Columbus Day in October. It serves as a tribute to all Italian immigrants and Italian Americans in order to honor their achievements and contributions in the U.S., particularly in the areas of the arts, science and culture.
The ceremony has been taking place since the Roma Sports Club, located at 968 McBride Avenue, moved to the Borough. Chris Falone, president of the Roma Sports Club, greeted attendees. He thanked Mayor Tracy Kallert and the members of the Borough Council for supporting the event. He also thanked members of the Roma Sports Club for coordinating the afternoon's activities.
