Women-led businesses have become one of the most significant forces in Italy’s economy. More than 1.3 million Italian companies are currently headed by women, representing 22.2% of all businesses registered nationwide. In absolute terms, this places Italy first in Europe for the number of female-led enterprises.
The figures reveal both the strength of women’s entrepreneurship and its enormous untapped potential. Female business owners are active across the economy, from retail, tourism, agriculture, and personal services to biotechnology, aerospace, sustainable manufacturing, and other technology-intensive industries.
