Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Music in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will present the U.S. premiere of the revival of the long-forgotten opera “Amalia e Carlo” on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
Originally written in 1812 by Pietro Carlo Guglielmi, the opera has been revived through a scholarly edition by Barbara Salani, Ph.D., of FAU. Tickets are available through FAU’s box office. “Amalia e Carlo” explores themes of love and intrigue and offers a vivid look into the socio-political and cultural landscape of Napoleonic Italy.
