UNICO National, the largest Italian American service organization in the nation, and UNICO Delaware annually offer the Brian Piccolo Scholarship to a scholar-athlete who participates in an organized sport or team activity. This award is given throughout the country to a high school senior who is of Italian heritage and is also in good academic standing.
Nominees must also exhibit the character traits modeled by Brian Piccolo in his life and career as a legendary professional running back for the Chicago Bears – courage, friendship, loyalty, teamwork, dedication, sense of humor and anti-bias – verified by a letter of recommendation” from their coach.
