Mrs Playmen, Netflix’s latest Italian series, is a portrait of a non-conformist woman’s fight against her country’s patriarchal values and conservative culture. In the process, she makes some questionable decisions, causing one scandal after another. Based on the true story of Adelina Tattilo’s life, Mrs Playmen stars Carolina Crescentini as Tattilo, along with Filippo Nigro and Giuseppe Maggio in supporting roles.
The 7-episode series, which started streaming on Netflix on 12 November 2025, is set in the 1970s when Italy was going through a cultural upheaval. The Years of Lead, as they were called, were a time of rising feminist movements, rebellions against patriarchal norms and societal change, accompanied by terrorism and neo-fascism. It was a time when the country’s pre-dated sexual norms were being challenged, and that’s where Mrs Playmen’s story fits.
