Last night, the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, H.E. Marco Peronaci, hosted at the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C. over 1,100 guests for the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, which coincides with the important 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence.
After the video message of the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, the Ambassador recalled the remarks of the Italian President of the Republic referencing the special significance of the Republic’s 80th anniversary. President Mattarella emphasized women’s decisive contribution to the outcome of the referendum that took place on June 2, 1946, with which Italians chose the Republic over the monarchy.
