City officials and community leaders gathered outside Springfield City Hall to raise the Italian flag and mark the start of Italian Heritage Month.
Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and Rep. Angelo Puppolo joined representatives from the Italian Cultural Center of Western Mass, Springfield UNICO and the Springfield Sons and Daughters of Italy for the ceremony. The event recognized the contributions and heritage of Italian Americans in the community.
