Sofia Goggia closed the 2025–26 Alpine skiing season in dominant fashion, capturing the women’s super-G World Cup title with a decisive win in the final race in Norway. The Italian skier not only secured the crystal globe but did so by finishing first in the last event, underlining her consistency and aggressive racing style throughout the season.
Heading into the finale, Goggia already held a solid lead in the standings and needed only a top-six finish to clinch the title. Instead, she pushed for victory and delivered one of her strongest runs of the year, earning her third super-G win of the season and the 10th in her career.
Her main rival, New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, finished well outside contention in 16th place, eliminating any chance of overturning the standings. Switzerland’s Corinne Suter and Germany’s Kira Weidle-Winkelmann completed the podium in second and third, respectively.
This result marked an important milestone for Goggia, who had previously dominated downhill with four discipline titles but had never won the super-G globe before. Overall, it was the fifth crystal globe of her career, confirming her status as one of the most accomplished speed skiers of her generation.
The 33-year-old Italian had built her success over the course of the season with a mix of victories and consistent top finishes. Earlier in the year, she established a gap of more than 80 points over her closest competitors, maintaining control of the standings despite strong pressure from athletes like Emma Aicher.
Beyond the discipline standings, the broader World Cup picture remains tight. American star Mikaela Shiffrin still leads the overall rankings with 1,286 points, but her advantage has shrunk to just 45 points with two races left in the season.
Goggia’s triumph also contributed to a remarkable weekend for Italy, highlighting the country’s strength in speed events and reinforcing its role as a global powerhouse in alpine skiing.
