The Scranton Chapter of UNICO National annually chooses a person to be the UNICAN of the Year. This year, to honor their long-standing profile in Northeast Pennsylvania and their decadeslong commitment to UNICO at La Festa Italiana, the Pasqualichio Brothers Inc., a family-run meat-producing business, will receive the UNICAN of the Year at the chapter’s event at Fiorelli’s on Feb. 21, according to Mike Linko, chapter president.
The 66th annual charity fundraiser will start with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7. Entertainment will be provided by the Picture Perfect Band with a special performance by Italian vocalist Andrea Amoroso. The company traces its history to the mid-1920s when Dominick Iacobino launched a successful meat market after immigrating from Italy to Scranton.
