It’s been more than five years since protesters tore down a statue of Christopher Columbus outside the Minnesota State Capitol, and Republican lawmakers in Washington want to know if it will ever return.
In a letter sent to Gov. Tim Walz on Monday — recognized federally as Columbus Day — Reps. Tom Emmer, Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach and Pete Stauber asked if Minnesota is still in possession of the statue and whether there are any plans to display it to the public again.
