The foundation honored 97-year-old Anna (Ann) Schiavone Valerych as the Outstanding Italian-American of 2026. Born in 1928 to Italian immigrant parents, Valerych co-founded the organization now known as Arc GLOW, establishing local advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities.
A lifelong Batavia resident, she was also recognized for her dedication to her heritage, including her participation in a papal event at the Vatican.
