Italy’s manufacturing system is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by sectors that combine innovation, quality, and global demand. A recent report presented at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy highlights how the country’s export model is becoming more diversified and resilient, with strong performances in pharmaceuticals, food products, and high-end manufacturing.
At the center of this shift is what analysts define as the “new” Made in Italy – a group of 15 strategic product categories that generated a trade surplus of about €62 billion in 2024, placing Italy at the top globally, ahead of countries like Germany and France. This surplus represents a growing share of the country’s total export balance, reaching nearly 43% of the overall surplus linked to key Italian products.
