At 19 years old, the Italian athlete born in Cagliari who still lives in Sardinia, in Oristano, delivered one of the most dominant seasons ever seen in the discipline, establishing herself as the clear benchmark in women’s wingfoil racing.
From the opening event of the year, Spanu set the tone with a series of decisive victories. She won every World Cup stop she competed in, racing in Morocco, Switzerland, Turkey, China, and Brazil. Across the full season, she accumulated 18 race wins out of 21 starts, a level of consistency that left little room for doubt about the overall outcome. Heading into the final medal race in Brazil, she needed only a controlled finish to secure the title, which she achieved with confidence despite strong pressure from her closest rivals.
The final World Cup standings reflected her dominance. Spanu finished first overall, ahead of France’s Vaina Picot in second place and Aimilia Kosti in third. In addition to the World Cup title, 2025 also brought Spanu the European WingFoil Racing Championship and the Formula Wing World Championship, completing a rare triple crown in a single season.
