Mid-afternoon on a recent Thursday, Canino's Italian Restaurant is understandably quiet. A handful of customers wrap up a late lunch before the dinner crowd arrives. Owner Clyde Canino tries to take a break, but the phone interrupts the peace.
Word has gotten out that the restaurant will close by the end of the year. Friends and customers call to wish Canino well, make reservations while they can and reminisce about proposals, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and other milestones celebrated there.
