Italy’s most wine-friendly cities: Alba, Siena and Olbia

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Alba, Siena, and Olbia stand out today as Italy’s top “wine-friendly” cities – places where wine feels woven into daily life. Alba, famed as the crown jewel of Piedmont and the heart of the Langhe, is celebrated not only for white truffles but for its legendary wines, from Barolo to Barbaresco and beyond.

It races ahead of Siena, a Tuscan stronghold steeped in DOCG excellence – from Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino to Vino Nobile and Vernaccia. And then there’s Olbia, merging Sardinia’s deep winemaking roots with its tourist magnetism along the Costa Smeralda – the trio forms an unexpected but perfect podium.
