Italy’s exports rise in 2025 driven by pharmaceutical surge and strong year-end growth

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

In 2025 Italy’s foreign trade showed healthy gains, with export values rising steadily and the pharmaceutical sector playing a major role. Over the full year, Italian exports grew by about 3.3 % in value compared with 2024, according to national statistics data.

This broad growth was driven by strength in several key industries, especially pharmaceuticals, which outpaced most others with increases far above the national average. Overall, exports increased more than imports, helping to support a trade surplus of roughly €50.7 billion.
