Italy-USA: Art at Contrada Guido, the fascinating and tax-efficient patronage scheme created for Italian-Americans

By: Robert Crowe

Contrada Guido is a cultural patronage project aimed primarily at the Italian-American community, with the goal of transforming a historic site in Calabria into an international cultural hub. The initiative includes American artist residencies, heritage restoration, artist studios, and a contemporary art park.

Donations—also supported by LoveItaly.org, a nonprofit that bridges the U.S. and Italy—are processed through a U.S.-based 501(c)(3), making them tax-deductible. The program offers a clear path for cultural recognition and active participation. Well-structured opportunities are also available for entrepreneurs and companies, with additional tax benefits.
