Italy is investing in advanced satellite technology in order to improve its ability to observe Earth from space. A new program led by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) focuses on developing ultra-stable optical benches – critical structural platforms that support satellite telescopes and imaging instruments.
These components are essential because they keep optical systems perfectly aligned while satellites operate hundreds of kilometers above Earth. The project has been assigned to Bercella, an Italian engineering company based in Varano de’ Melegari, in the province of Parma.
