Italian womenswear expands in the US market with strong export growth

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Italian women’s fashion continues to expand its footprint in the United States, confirming the market as one of the most strategic for the sector. In the first eleven months of 2025, Italian exports of apparel, footwear, and accessories reached €3.643 billion, marking a +5.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The U.S. remains the second-largest destination for Italian fashion, accounting for 10.9% of total exports. At the same time, Italy ranks as the fifth-largest supplier in the American market, with a 6.16% share – figures that highlight both strong demand and room for further growth.

To strengthen this position, the Italian Trade Agency has organized a collective presence at Coterie New York, one of the leading U.S. trade shows dedicated to womenswear. The event, scheduled from September 9 to 11, will feature 81 Italian companies showcasing clothing, accessories, and total-look collections to international buyers.

Coterie is a key platform for the industry, with around 800 exhibitors and nearly 10,000 visitors each edition, making it a central hub for trends and business opportunities in North America.

The Italian participation focuses on targeted promotion, business meetings, and direct engagement with buyers, aiming to boost visibility and sales. Small and medium-sized companies, in particular, benefit from institutional support that helps them enter or expand in a competitive market.

This initiative reflects a broader strategy to enhance the global positioning of Made in Italy womenswear. By combining design, craftsmanship, and innovation, Italian brands aim to consolidate their presence in the U.S. while increasing export volumes and strengthening long-term commercial partnerships.
