Thursday, April 30 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM EST - Embassy of Italy, 3000 Whitehaven St NW, Washington, DC WASHINGTON, DC. The Italian Cultural Society (ICS), a nonprofit devoted to promoting Italian language and culture, is honored to present Gianandrea Noseda at the organization’s annual Gala this spring.
The ICS Gala is an occasion to celebrate the excellence of Italian culture in its many facets and includes honorary guests of international acclaim. This year, we celebrate the legacy of Giacomo Puccini and honor Gianandrea Noseda’s career — one of the foremost ambassadors of Italian music on the world stage.
Mr. Noseda, who has served for eight years as Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra, is recognized for his artistry in both the concert hall and opera house. He recently received the prestigious Puccini Award, which recognizes lifetime achievement and excellence in interpreting Puccini's operas.
Maestro Gianandrea Noseda also serves as General Music Director of Zurich Opera, Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, and Music Director of the Tsinandali Festival in Tsinandali, Georgia. The gala is open to the public and tickets are available to purchase on the ICS website.
Guests will enjoy a jazz cocktail reception with Prosecco and artisanal bites, a seated multi-course Italian dinner, awards ceremonies for ICS teachers and students, a silent and online auction, and – of course – a conversation with Maestro Noseda followed by a stunning NSO String Quartet performance, including unpublished, first heard in the US Puccini’s pieces.
Music enthusiasts of all levels shouldn’t miss this rare opportunity to witness a unique concert and meet a world class artist, especially in the inviting space of the Italian Embassy. Gala guests will enjoy a celebration of Italian culture and have the chance to take home a piece of Italy by participating in the silent auction, which includes hundreds of items such as luxury resort stays in Italy and the Caribbean, exclusive culinary experiences, fine wines, language courses, and Italian art.
All proceeds from the auction and event benefit the ICS, helping support its language program, cultural outreach, and student scholarships.
