Italy is accelerating the transformation of its healthcare system by bringing more medical care directly into patients' homes. Through a new national initiative coordinated by the Italian National Agency for Regional Health Services (AGENAS), approximately 60,000 people aged 80 and older with at least one chronic illness will receive enhanced home-based care supported by telemedicine and digital health technologies.
The program is funded through Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) with an investment of €150 million and represents one of the country's largest efforts to modernize care for its rapidly aging population.
