Delta Air Lines officially inaugurated its new nonstop route between Seattle and Rome on May 6, 2026, restoring a direct connection between the Pacific Northwest and Italy’s capital. The service operates four times a week between Seattle–Tacoma International Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport, using the airline’s Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
The new route is part of Delta’s strategy to strengthen Seattle as one of its key international gateways on the U.S. West Coast. Rome has become one of the airline’s most important European destinations from Seattle, responding to strong demand from both American and Italian travelers. The direct flight significantly reduces travel times compared with itineraries requiring connections through other European hubs.
Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo offers a modern long-haul experience with Delta One suites, Premium Select, Comfort+ and Main Cabin seating. The aircraft is designed for transatlantic routes and provides improved fuel efficiency, quieter cabins and upgraded passenger comfort.
The Seattle–Rome connection is also important for tourism and business relations between Italy and the Pacific Northwest, a region known for its strong technology, innovation and international trade sectors. Rome remains one of the most popular Italian destinations for American travelers, while Seattle continues to grow as a gateway for tourism, business and cruise traffic on the U.S. West Coast.
The route operates during the summer 2026 season, with flights scheduled through late October. Delta currently flies the Seattle–Rome service four times weekly.
