Rocky Romano, president of the Sons and Daughters of Italy William Marconi Lodge #1140, in Clarksburg, presented a $1,500 check to the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival. The donation brings the lodge’s total support for the festival to more than $20,000, covering upkeep of the festival and its office.
The William Marconi Lodge #1140 also sponsors the festival’s honorary council, which honors senior members of the Italian American community. Many of the council’s members also belong to the lodge. “These seniors are 80 and over in Italian descent. It’s quite an honor for them. And it’s a big honor for me to do this because a lot of those senior council are in our club. So, it’s a distinct honor to do this both today,” Romano said.
