The Italian Educational & Cultural Center at Casa Colombo is inviting the community to join its contingent in the 2026 Jersey City Columbus Day Parade, turning one of the city’s major Italian American celebrations into an opportunity for direct participation.
The parade will take place Saturday, October 10, rain or shine. Casa Colombo participants are asked to assemble at 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Dickinson High School, located at 2 Palisade Avenue in Jersey City. The official parade will step off from Dickinson promptly at 1:00 p.m.
The initiative reflects Casa Colombo’s broader mission of preserving and promoting Italian heritage while creating opportunities for contemporary generations to participate in the community’s cultural life. The historic organization operates from its headquarters at 380 Monmouth Street, a building constructed by Italian immigrants in 1936.
The October 10 parade is part of a broader week of Italian American celebrations in Jersey City. The official 2026 program also includes a gala dinner on October 1, an Italian American flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on October 6 and another ceremony at the William J. Brennan Courthouse on October 7.
The parade itself will recognize numerous members of the local community. John Sernio has been selected as Grand Marshal, while honorees represent education, business, law enforcement, public service and other areas of Italian American life.
Casa Colombo is asking those interested in marching with its group to register by Friday, October 9.
