A team of Italian researchers is developing an innovative biodegradable patch that could transform the treatment of glioblastoma, the deadliest and most aggressive form of brain cancer. Designed to be applied directly to the area where a tumor has been surgically removed, the technology aims to attack residual cancer cells that often remain hidden in surrounding brain tissue and lead to recurrence.
Glioblastoma remains one of the greatest challenges in modern oncology. In Italy, approximately 1,500 new cases are diagnosed every year, and the disease is particularly common among adults between the ages of 55 and 75.
