In what has been dubbed a shocking upset, Junior Welterweight boxer Chris Algieri defeated Ruslan Provodnikov to claim the 140 – pound WBO Junior Welterweight World Title Saturday, June 15th.
The 30-year-old former kick boxer, and Long Island, native won the fight with a split decision over reigning title holder Provodnikov in front of a crowd of over 6,000 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.
