The town of Agawam celebrated Italian Heritage Month on Tuesday night with its annual Italian flag-raising ceremony. The observance honors the historical contributions of the town’s Italian American community. Italian Americans represent the largest European demographic group living in Agawam.
Community leaders and regional organizations gathered for the observance. Attendees included U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, members of the Agawam City Council, and representatives from the Italian Cultural Center of Western Massachusetts. Agawam Mayor Christopher Johnson emphasized the historical importance of Italian Americans to the town’s development.
