Carla Gugino, whose father was Italian, was born on August 29, 1971, in Sarasota, Florida. She spent her childhood between California and Florida. When she was 15 and living in San Diego, she decided to try her hand at a modeling career. While successful, Carla became disillusioned with the lifestyle. A year later, she moved to New York City and opted to become an actress.

Since then Carla has starred in projects spanning all genres in television, film and on stage. Most recently, her roles include Political Animals, New Girl, Wayward Pines, San Andreas and the newly released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
