Great victory in the Italian men's and women's short track three months before the Beijing Olympic Winter Games: in the first day of finals, the Italian team climbed twice on the highest step of the podium. Yuri Confortola, 35 years old skater from Tirano in Lombardy, won the 1500 meters in the second stage of the World Cup in progress in Nagoya, Japan. Super Saturday also for Arianna Fontana. The 31-year-old, also from Sondrio in Lombardy, began the day by coming in second in the 1500 meters and ended it by winning the 500 meters race. 

If the Olympic champion in Pyeong Chang 2018 was among the favorites in the 500, Confortola's success is historic. The Azzurro, is in fact the first Italian to win an individual World Cup race since 2007.
