In 2021 Prosciutto di San Daniele PDO confirmed itself as one of the most purchased and consumed Italian specialties, both in Italy and abroad. Total production grew by +3% for a volume of 2,630,000 pork legs, and the hams sold in 2021 were 2.8 million. Total sales amounted to 350 million euros, growing +14% compared to 2020. About 83% of the total production was destined for domestic consumption, while 17% crossed the Italian borders.
The excellent export results confirm the recognition and appreciation of Prosciutto di San Daniele PDO all over the world. In 2021, exports increased by +17% compared to the previous year. About 56% of export sales reached the markets of European Union countries.
