Italian ports now take on more than 41% of European passenger traffic, according to a study by consultancy Value Partners, better than their Spanish and French competitors.
Almost 40 million passengers frequent Italy's ports every year. Examining the data collected by the consultants, based on the surveys of Assoporti and Eurostat, emerges that 41.8% of the EU passenger traffic passes through Italian docks; this is compared to 25.4% for Spain, 17.1% for France and 15.7% attributed to the other countries as a whole.
