Then all of a sudden, just behind the corner, you find yourself face-to-face with towering walls, their majesty reminiscent of emperors and gladiators, poets and philosophers. These are no ordinary walls, these are the Aurelian Walls: Rome’s silent sentinels, which have stood guard over the city’s soul for nearly two millennia.
