From America to Italia, Some Dos and Don'ts

While no longer technically tourists, there is still a fine line between someone who is a local, and someone who lives in Italy. It can be difficult to try and appear local to someone who is native to Italy because let’s face it, we stick out. It is especially apparent that you’re not a local if you continue to follow American ideals, such as how you dress, what you eat, and even when you eat.

When you try to speak Italian and realize that it’s much harder than you thought to mask your American accent, the only way to immerse yourself as much as possible is by adopting local tendencies – because if you can’t beat 'em, join 'em right? You are most likely still teetering on the edge of the outer sphere of what it means to be Italian, so I’m here to offer a few do’s and don’ts that I’ve picked up on living in Italy as an American.
