Amarena Fabbri, the maker of a trademark wild cherry product that is one of the best known brands in Italian cuisine, is having its 100th birthday.
In 1905, a young Gennaro Fabbri bought a grocery store with adjoining fermentation cellar and transformed it into the "Premiata Distilleria G. Fabbri." The first Fabbri-branded products consisted of a range of spirits that won increasing success, to the extent that Gennaro Fabbri soon moved the distillery to larger premises in Borgo Panigale in Bologna, where the company is still headquartered today.
