2,000-year-old Roman stove unearthed in construction gives insight into ancient life

Genoa, Italy, is a hidden gem filled with palaces showcasing Gothic architecture, cobblestone streets, and historic shops and restaurants all overlooking the Ligurian Sea. But there might be even more history in Genoa than meets the eye.

Construction workers recently unearthed an ancient stove that dates back about 2,000 years to the year 300, according to a Facebook post from the Genoa government. The stove indicates there were ancient Roman settlements that existed in the region, Mayor Marco Bucci said in a Facebook post.
