Phantom Gourmet recently took a look at the "best places for steak outside the city," and a Medford Italian restaurant made the cut. Food critic Dave Andelman said Raso's, at 209 Mystic Ave., may be known for its traditional Italian and pasta dishes but its New York sirloin is a must have.
"This is a fire-grilled New York sirloin," he said, "black angus steak with a red wine demi-glace, $24 with two sides included – you can't beat that." Other non-Boston steakhouses making the list were: Gibbet Hill Grill, Groton - Prime 131 Grill, Wayland - Stockyard, Brighton (yes, it's in Boston, but it has its own parking).
"You can eat for half when you get out of the city," Andelman said.
