Kathleen R. Carando, vice president of sales and marketing at Carando Gourmet Foods, traveled to Pennsylvania four months ago to demonstrate her company's pot pies for food buyers at retail television channel QVC.

"I didn't realize it, but I wasn't just showing them my food," Carando said. "I was auditioning to be an on-air guest." It is an audition that both she and Carando's Country Chef Brand Chicken and Vegetable Pot Pies must have passed with flying gravy.
