Vinnie Bilancio is quite the tour guide. He's been coming to the Di Loreto Club, an Italian-American social club at 914 Division St. in Mishawaka, since boyhood. Bilancio's parents were members. Their wedding reception happened on site. After spending 19 years living in California, Bilancio returned to Mishawaka five years ago to help care for his ailing mother. Doing so meant going back to the Di Loreto.
"We used to come all the time when we were kids," Bilancio says. "We used to play out back. They would close the street off." Bilancio knows just about every nook and cranny of the club. Same goes for his cousin, Pat Perri, who's been a full member since 1977 and is now president. And these days the cousins — "But I'm full Italian and he's half," Bilancio quipped, with a laugh — have more than ever to show off.
